Renovations and new circuits on the Mornington Peninsula

Renovating a kitchen or bathroom, adding an extension, or wiring a granny flat or shed? I’m Josh, a licensed electrician based in Dromana. I handle the electrical side of renovations across the Peninsula, from planning where everything goes to the final sign-off.

Renovations of every size

Kitchens

Power along the benches, circuits for the oven and cooktop, and lighting over the benches where you prep.

Bathrooms

Lighting, exhaust fans, heated towel rails and power where you need it.

Extensions

New circuits, power points and lighting for the extra space, tied into your existing switchboard.

Granny flats and sheds

Power run out from the house, with lighting and power points inside.

New circuits

Dedicated circuits for ovens, induction cooktops, air conditioners and workshops.

Get the electrical sorted before the walls go up

It’s much easier to put power and lighting exactly where you want it before the walls are lined. The things worth deciding early are:

  • Where the power points go, including benchtops, the TV wall and phone charging spots
  • The lighting layout, and which switches control which lights
  • Circuits for big appliances like ovens, induction cooktops and air conditioners
  • Whether your switchboard has room for the new circuits

“I've done several renovations, so I’m fussy with trades. Josh was really great to deal with from start to finish. Easygoing, reliable, punctual and always easy to communicate with. He did a great job and was more than happy to send through videos and updates when I couldn't be there. He also went out of his way to pick up and drop off keys, which made everything really easy. Just a genuinely nice guy to deal with, I’d happily recommend him and intend on using him in the future.”

Common questions

When should I get an electrician involved?

As early as you can, ideally while you’re still planning the layout. It’s much easier to put power and lighting where you want it before the walls are lined.

Can you work with my builder?

Yes. I work around the builder’s schedule and the other trades, and line up rough-in and fit-off with them. If you’re managing the job yourself, I’ll work directly with you.

Will my switchboard handle the extra circuits?

Sometimes not. Older boards often don’t have room or the right protection for new circuits. I’ll check it when I quote and tell you if it needs upgrading. See switchboard upgrades.

Do you do granny flats and sheds?

Yes, including running power out from the house and fitting lighting and power points inside.

Will I get a certificate?

Yes. Once fit-off is done and everything’s tested, I’ll send you a Certificate of Electrical Safety for the work. Your builder or certifier may ask for it at handover.
